Job Description
The Data Governance Subject Matter Expert (SME) will be working closely with client business owner, will analyze current data artifacts, identify needs and enhancements. This role requires close collaboration with business, technical, and compliance teams to ensure enterprise data assets are secure, accurate, and aligned with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Governance Analysis and Recommendations
1 Lead the analysis of current data governance policies, standards, and processes against best practice standards and make recommendations to enhance or develop new artifacts.
2 Examine and recommend modifications or creation to a data governance operating model, focusing on ownership, stewardship, and accountability for data quality and security.
3 Assess existing workflows and processes for data governance and stewardship activities and make recommendations for changes
Collaboration and Training
1 Collaborate with data stewards, data owners, and IT teams.
2 Work with and communicate regularly with the Data Governance implementation team on findings and recommendations.
Regulatory Compliance and Security
1 Analyze current state and recommend compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA)
2 Analyze current state and recommend data retention, access control, and purging policies to mitigate risks.
Monitoring and Reporting
1 Analyze current state metrics and dashboards and make recommendations for improvements for monitoring
Qualifications:
1 Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field.
2 Experience:
a 7+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, or data management roles.
3 Skills and Knowledge:
a Strong communication skills
b Experience in Data Governance policy and framework analysis
c Strong understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA DMBOK).
4 Certifications (Preferred): DAMA CDMP, or equivalent.
Preferred Skills:
1 Strong communication and stakeholder management skills for driving data governance initiatives across the organization.
2 Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid data environments.
