Main purpose of the Associate Designer (Swim) position:

The Associate Designer (Swim) will utilize his or her strong acumen for fashion to create and interpret concepts to generate a final product for a specific brand. He or she will collaborate with different departments to manage the development of his or her product from initial concept through production. This is a permanent full time role for a candidate who truly understands the market consumer and can apply it to the passion of his or her work. This position will also utilize his or organizational skills to work independently to accomplish design departmental goals.

Position responsibilities and daily tasks:

  • Strong knowledge of premium quality, feminine design details.
  • Must incorporate an elevated personal aesthetic and taste level.
  • Create detailed technical flats and line guides: includes intricate CAD work, construction details for review with Lead Designer. Also involves thoughtful and intentional construction work and ability to execute on those CAD’s independently
  • Assist in the process of executing elevated product with the direction of design lead(s).
  • Attend designated fittings, support the Design team in updates.
  • Maintain and organize all sample racks and label samples accordingly.
  • Create and maintain monthly line guides.
  • Set-up swatch and print packages.
  • Create detailed CADs/Tech Packs/Construction Detail Pages/maintain BOMs.
  • Accurately take notes for the Design team in meetings.
  • Complete ad-hoc tasks and assignments as directed by management..

Major Responsibilities:

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Able to complete the execution of a brand or category with the direction of a higher level Designer/Lead
  • Create and update technical flats illustrator and line guides on Google docs
  • Assist in sourcing and choosing materials for product
  • Attend designated fittings, take notes and make updates
  • Build CADs/Tech Packs/Construction Detail Pages/maintain BOMs
  • Partner with Product Development team to retrieve fabric/costing and suggest alternate options in order to meet requirements
  • Mentor and train Assistants, which includes refining their design development process

Required Competencies:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Strong hand sketching ability as well as illustrator sketching ability
  • Strong sense of color story, style and fit terminology
  • Able to clearly communicate silhouettes and detailed garment construction through tech pack creation and CADS
  • Ability to recolor artwork and prints
  • Knowledgeable in fabrics and ability to design within cost parameters and wearability
  • Knowledgeable and constantly up-to-date with market/runway trends and good understanding of the Revolve customer and Revolve Owned Brands
  • Ability to translate Sales Data and apply into design range and product scope within the brand’s identity
  • High knowledge of design details and interior garment construction
  • Self-motivated, positive and dependable attitude
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Effective time management and ability to stay organized
  • Flexible and adaptable to a very fast-paced environment
  • Must be able and willing to lift and carry up to 10 lbs., perform frequent repetitive finger, hand and wrist motions, as well as bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time

Minimum candidate qualifications (years of experience, education level, technical skills, software, etc):

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in Fashion Design - Swimwear experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator a must
  • Advanced visual and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of fabrics across categories

Preferred qualifications (years of experience, education level, technical skills, software, etc):

  • Degree in Fashion Design or similar related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Google Suite
  • Advanced knowledge of garment construction and fit

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, Revolve includes a reasonable estimate of the salary or hourly rate range for this role. This takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience and training, licensure, and certifications.

A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range is $68,000-$75,000 per year.
