The Role
The Creative Director serves as the primary day-to-day creative leader. This role is a balance of keeping one foot in the trenches, helping to generate the big ideas and managing teams. Our Creative Directors are not only world-class creatives pushing boundaries, but also think operationally to strive to optimize processes and workflows. The position has accountability for leading and managing creative teams and projects to ensure that all projects are kept on-time, on-budget, profitable, and meet client expectations. Additionally, the position facilitates the corporate culture by maintaining communication among the internal departments and employees.  

This role will report directly to the CEO.

This is a freelance position with a strong potential for a full-time position. 

How You’ll Contribute 
  • Pitch, ideate, and develop bold, attention-grabbing key art campaigns that elevate the client’s brand
  • Direct the development and execution of the creative process from concept to completion, including introducing innovative methods of creative execution
  • Efficiently and effectively lead projects from inception to completion - from kick off to post mortem; guide team throughout the project to ensure direct and optimal execution
  • Lead and direct insight-driven creative that resonates with our clients and their users; provide creative direction, storytelling, and quality control over all concepts, projects, and content creation
  • Meet with clients and upper management to explain campaign strategies and solutions; build and maintain strong relationships with clients and new business prospects
  • Provide creative resources to the business development team to grow the business’s top-line revenue through implementing, maintaining, and expanding customer relationships; develop and oversee innovative client pitches and proposals
  • Along with the account managers, responsible for the achievement of client KPIs, successful client service delivery, and overall client satisfaction
  • Drive outcomes by using qualitative and quantitative data to inform strategy (and actively and regularly communicates this information to leadership)
  • Communicate with the account services department to support quality control and guide a regularly scheduled project review process to enhance project management; advise PMs on timeline and resourcing needs for creative projects
  • Along with the CEO and business development team, lead promotional and marketing efforts for the company for social channels, pitch documents, RFP proposals, and others, including generating estimates and defining scope of work
  • Translate marketing objectives into clear creative strategies
  • Work with the CEO to develop and adapt corporate methodologies and processes
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary project teams on a range of deliverables 
  • Own all aspects of the brand standards including identity, style, tone, etc.
  • Facilitate future growth, account efficiencies, and opportunities
  • Assist the project managers in keeping the project on track creatively by promptly providing creative reference materials and commenting on design/layout/illustrations during all design phases
  • Work with HR to hire and train creative staff, including actively mentoring direct reports and cultivating career development of the team including designers, art directors, and copywriters, in an environment that embraces individual momentum
  • Guide the creative team to closely analyze briefs, developing unique, culturally relevant and groundbreaking ideas for print, digital, motion, social, branding, OOH, ecommerce, editorial, consumer goods, events and more
  • Other duties as assigned

Who You Are

  • 10+ years of experience as a creative leader with key art
  • Experience managing and mentoring a team of diverse creatives
  • Expert knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Expert knowledge of the business side of design
  • Experience as a strong leader for creatives
  • Ability to be mentored and growth mindset
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented, has good follow-through , can multitask, and works well under tight deadlines
  • Ability to approach a problem from multiple viewpoints
  • Ability to work through problems with a team that values collaboration and feedback
  • Ability to think beyond the task at hand and identify blockers and improvements

Compensation Expectations
The starting base compensation range for this position is $157,487 - $225,000 annually. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s certifications, location, prior experience, and qualifications. 

WC+A uses Aon Radford as our primary compensation database for benchmarking, with millions of data points behind the job level/description data we consider in structuring the range for each role.
