Job Summary 

The Road Home is seeking a highly motivated individual who is committed, compassionate, willing to be challenged, and who wants to make a difference in the lives of others. Reporting to the Rapid Housing Navigation Program Manager, the Rapid Housing Navigation Supervisor leads the efforts of a dedicated team of Rapid Housing Navigators providing services to guests across The Road Home’s resource centers and shelters. The Rapid Housing Navigation Team is focused on engaging with and providing individualized support for all guests to ensure each person at the resource center can quickly transition back into stable housing. The Rapid Housing Navigation Supervisor plans, organizes, leads, and provides ongoing support for housing navigation services and ensures effective coordination with case management and shelter teams. By providing strong leadership, setting departmental goals, tracking progress, and adjusting program direction to maximize positive housing outcomes as necessary, the Rapid Housing Navigation Supervisor will ensure those who turn to us in need receive individualized, trauma-informed support and are able to step out of homelessness and back into housing.

Team Supervision 

  • Hire, train, and manage staff, ensuring that they are providing high-quality, trauma-informed care in a low barrier shelter setting.   
  • Provide direct supervision and ongoing evaluation of a scattered-site team of four Rapid Housing Navigators.   
  • Assist staff with setting strengths-based, achievable goals targeting quick and stable housing solutions for their case load.   
  • Support and train staff in providing thorough and individualized support based on each guest’s unique needs and barriers, maintaining focus on Housing First approaches to supporting individuals back into housing.   
  • Work with staff to develop new and innovative ways to engage with guests.   
  • Review and approve staff timesheets in a timely manner. Manage other departmental paperwork and administrative reports in a timely manner.   
  • Participate in regular supervision and team meetings outlined by the Housing Navigation Program Manager   
  • Coordinate regular supervision, team and coordination meetings with case management and shelter staff to support cohesive and effective program delivery.    
  • Attend collaborative meetings with other agencies and partners as needed.       
  • Attend recommended trainings and conferences to ensure ongoing professional development.   
  • Maintain a training schedule for team members that supports ongoing professional development and innovative program delivery.    

Program Management 

  • Working with the Rapid Housing Navigation Program Manager to develop, implement, and continuously improve the housing navigation services being offered across resource centers and shelters.   
  • Communicate with community partners and relevant internal and external teams to coordinate quick and efficient access to community resources for staff and guests alike.   
  • Identify and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for Housing Navigators in shelters.   
  • Analyze program data and adjust scope and direction of program as needed to improve efficiency and increase positive outcomes.   
  • Work with other supervisors and Road Home teams to create consistency among housing navigation services within the resource centers and shelters.   
  • Develop expertise in available affordable housing sites and housing subsidies.   
  • Observe emerging trends for program participants and within the homeless service sector.   
  • Proactively engage in problem solving and programmatic change.   
  • Be aware of process inefficiencies and engage in quality improvement.   
  • Participate in the Community Triage Group meeting to prioritize households experiencing homelessness to ensure indexing and placement priorities are clear and followed.   
  • Conduct outreach and expand access to housing by cultivating relationships with property owners and management companies and connecting with landlords via neighborhood outreach, Internet search, and networking events.     
  • Participate in regular relationship building meetings with property managers and landlords to support safe and stable housing options for clients.   
  • Collect, report, and maintain accurate client and program data using approved forms and data management systems (Rise, HMIS, etc.), managing client information in accordance with agency, state, and federal guidelines     
  • Establish and maintain a centralized process for collecting housing leads and available units for Housing Navigators.   
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned

Education and Experience  

  • At least one year of direct supervisory experience preferred.  
  • Experience working with diverse and vulnerable populations or lived experience required.  
  • Knowledge of homeless resources, social services, and program management preferred.  

Required Skills and Abilities 

  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse populations. Ability to contribute to the agency’s commitment to enhancing awareness and appreciation of diverse ethnic and cultural heritages.   
  • Familiarity with Trauma-Informed Care and Housing First philosophies.  
  • Self-starter who can work collaboratively as a team leader and who is able to accept feedback.  
  • Excellent supervisory skills, with ability to model compassionate and trauma-informed interactions and support at various levels of engagement with guests.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively and handle difficult situations with professionalism, compassion and from a trauma-informed perspective.  
  • Excellent organizational, writing and documentation skills.  
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Suite, Calendar, Tracking, e-mail, ETC)  
  • Familiarity with ClientTrack or other HMIS database is a plus.  
  • Demonstrated experience cultivating collaborative relationships with community partners.  
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable to drive an agency vehicle.   
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.  

Physical and Equipment Requirements 

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.  
  • Ability to stand and walk for at least an hour at a time. 
  • Ability to drive a vehicle.
