PBS Wisconsin News is hiring! We are looking for a full-time Indigenous Affairs multimedia reporter. This is a great opportunity for broadcast and multimedia story-tellers to work as part of a collaborative partnership between PBS Wisconsin News and ICT (formerly Indian Country Today) to produce original, deadline-driven news content, with a strong reporting focus on Indigenous communities and issues.
The Indigenous Affairs reporter will engage audiences through the production of broadcast television news video reports as well as digital news articles, audio, video and social media content. Reporting would focus on issues important in Indigenous communities and all of Wisconsin as we are a statewide network intent on geographic and cultural diversity in our coverage. Your work will be impactful on the state and national stage. This position formally reports to PBS Wisconsin News and will be responsive to the direction of the ICT Executive Producer. Bachelor's Degree in journalism or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in broadcast and/or online video reporting and multimedia content creation.
- Demonstrated experience reporting on Indigenous community matters (experience gained in school, such as internships or for school productions will be considered).
- Strong attention to detail with demonstrated excellent writing, grammar and proofreading skills with knowledge of AP style.
- Basic media production experience including videography and editing.
- Demonstrated ability to work productively and successfully with people from indigenous communities.
- Strong knowledge of Indigenous community current events and issues.
- Proven ability to work under deadlines in both independent and collaborative settings.

PBS Wisconsin is open to this position being based anywhere in Wisconsin with the expectation of traveling to and occasional stays in Madison for onboarding, training and team meetings as needed. Terminal, 24 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding
Minimum $55,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

Anticipated salary range for this position is $55,000 to $60,000. Actual pay will depend on relevant experience and qualifications.
This position requires the ability to work some evenings, weekends, overnights with travel throughout Wisconsin as stories warrant.
This position regularly requires travel within Wisconsin for interviews, shoots, and other production activities. The person in this role, must have the ability to independently travel to all required locations at agreed upon times. They must also be able to transport any needed production equipment with them and arrive at the scheduled time for production activities. Travel expenses will be reimbursed as appropriate within UW policies. Please note, any driver must be able to be approved as a UW Authorized Driver to receive mileage reimbursement.
