Job Description

We design, manufacture and assemble electronic automotive and marine controls, as well as LED lighting products and multi-function controls and display systems.

Located in Wilmington, North Carolina, we have been a full-service provider of mechanical, electrical, electronic and software products for over 50 years. Operating from our “concept to completion” platform, we have on-site capabilities to design, manufacture, validate and distribute world-class products for the automotive, heavy truck, marine and industrial markets.

We have an immediate opening for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support manufacturing and engineering within the organization. The Manufacturing Engineer must be a team player and will interface with Product Managers, Product Engineers, Quality and Manufacturing Technicians on a daily basis.

The duties and responsibilities of the successful candidate will include:

  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods based on the product requirements
  • Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow.
  • Design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency while ensuring the manufacturing process supports the product requirements.
  • Develop and maintain Operator Work Instructions (OWI), Process Failure Mode and Effect diagrams (PFMEA), and support the development of Quality Work Instructions (QWI) and the Quality Control Plan (CP) in compliance with the ISO 9001:2015 standard.
  • Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Confer with vendors to determine manufacturing equipment specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts required for the manufacturing process.
  • Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
  • Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Develop, analyze and assist in the implementation of Continuous Process Improvements (CPI) projects to reduce Manufacturing Cost, increase process robustness, and increase product quality.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • A two or four-year degree in a related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of proven manufacturing engineering experience is required, and new line start-up experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing and Six Sigma processes.
  • Demonstrated ability with continuous improvement programs and cost reductions.
  • Fusion 360 programming experience.
