Summary of Duties:
Use next-generation sequencing methods to investigate the role of ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling complexes and histone-modifying enzymes in promoting DNA excision repair across the genome of yeast and human cells; Analyze data using statistical software, bioinformatics tools and/or and scripts; Present their research through posters or oral presentation and peer-reviewed publications; Design, conduct, and troubleshoot laboratory experiments; Oversee quality control, make suggestions for improvement in techniques and interpretation; Supervise undergraduate and/or graduate students in the lab. Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Genetics, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology or a related field.
Experience with gene cloning, PCR, and molecular biology techniques.
Experience in data analysis and bioinformatics.
Experience with DNA, RNA, and protein extraction, and qRT-PCR.
Good computer skills, especially with GraphPad Prism, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, EndNote.
The ability to problem-solve and learn new experimental techniques.
Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
Basic knowledge of microbiology techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of R software and single cell RNA-seq is desired.
Experience with next-generation sequencing data analysis and programming is preferred.
Experience with mammalian cell culture is preferred.
Experience with preparing next-generation sequencing libraries is desired.
Experience in the field of DNA repair and/or chromatin is preferred.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

This is a temporary position expected to end on March 31, 2029. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
