Engineer – Embedded Robotics Sensing

San Francisco, CA (On-site)

A cutting-edge robotics company is looking for an Engineer specializing in Embedded Robotics Sensing to lead the development of its technology.

This technology allows drones to determine their location using computer vision instead of GPS, achieving high-accuracy positioning regardless of flight distance.

The system integrates seamlessly with existing airframes, addressing essential challenges in autonomous drone navigation.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development and optimization of a vision-based navigation system for large fleets of drones.
  • Design, test, and implement embedded software emphasizing robotics and computer vision.
  • Make essential decisions regarding the system architecture by weighing the risks, lead time, and costs.
  • Work together with vendors to combine hardware components with software systems.
  • Manage fleet strategies and ensure quality assurance for large-scale deployments.

Requirements:

  • Graduates from top computer science programs (Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Waterloo, Stanford University, Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley), University of Oxford, California Institute of Technology (Caltech), University of Cambridge, Harvard University, Princeton University, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC)
  • U.S. Citizens, U.S. Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders), and Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents.
  • Over 5 years of experience in embedded hardware, including more than 2 years working on systems that involve cameras and Visual Inertial Odometry (VIO).
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing embedded SLAM architectures and VIO systems for commercial products.
  • 4 to 6 years of experience in visual robotics sensing, focusing on camera-based systems.
  • Practical experience with drones or autonomous aerial vehicles.
  • Previous startup experience is required
  • Primary experience must be with big companies - Uber, Intel, or other
