About the Role :
We’re hiring one dedicated in-person tutor to provide small-group mathematics instruction to 6th and 7th-grade students at IS 190. As a middle school math tutor, you’ll partner in the classroom with teachers to deliver personalized small-group instruction that empowers students to grow their skills, boost their confidence, and achieve academic success.

What You’ll Do:

• Work closely with teachers and school leaders to provide engaging and focused small-group instruction in 6th and 7th-grade math.
• Foster a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity and resilience.
• Be a valued part of a team dedicated to transforming educational outcomes in underserved communities.

Schedule:

• Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
• Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• Duration: January 21, 2025 – March 26, 2025 (excluding holidays and school conferences)
• Key Dates Off:  
  • January 29: Lunar New Year
  • February 17–21: Midwinter Recess

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience: Prior experience tutoring or teaching middle school math.
• Subject Proficiency: Strong knowledge of math at the middle school level.
• Team Player: Collaborative spirit and a desire to work closely with teachers and students.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to connect effectively with diverse audiences.
• Passion: A commitment to educational equity and social justice for minority and low-income students.
• Availability: Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently.
