Key Responsibilities:
Lesson Planning & Implementation: Substitute teachers will follow provided lesson plans, ensuring engaging and creative activities that align with our curriculum and standards. You will help children meet developmental milestones, assist with schoolwork or remote learning, and foster a love for learning.
Creating a Safe & Supportive Environment: Ensure a safe, nurturing atmosphere for all children in your care. You will actively supervise children during activities, making sure that their well-being and engagement are top priorities.
Communication & Collaboration: Communicate regularly with children, parents, and staff to meet the needs of all students. This will involve observing children's progress, providing feedback, and maintaining open lines of communication with families.
Flexibility & Availability: Substitute teachers are scheduled based on availability and will receive their schedules weekly, typically by Friday. You may be asked to cover shifts due to unexpected call-offs, but you will not be required to take these shifts. The more availability you have, the more opportunities you will have to work.
Variety in Scheduling: Hours for this position may vary depending on enrollment and staffing needs. Substitute teachers will be expected to adapt to different classrooms and shifts as needed, with the understanding that lesson plans will be prepared in advance but you may occasionally need to adapt them.
Qualifications & Requirements (Preferred but Not Required):
Experience working with children in any capacity (including volunteer work)
Experience in early childhood education or childcare settings
Previous experience with lesson planning or curriculum implementation
Ability to work well with parents, caregivers, and staff to create a positive learning environment
Experience with positive discipline techniques
Comfortable working with a flexible schedule
Knowledge of child development and early learning standards
Strong communication and customer service skills
Basic computer skills and time-management abilities
Education & Background Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED is required
Clean background check
