Job Description

Status: Temporary Full-time

Hours: 40 hours per week (Four 10's or Five 8's)

Pay Range: $24.00 per hour + $1.00 bilingual differential

Duration: Position is temporary until June 30, 2025

General

  • Assure that participants, staff, volunteers and community partners are treated with respect and dignity

  • Think through the lens of racial equity and its intersections with poverty. Use the core principles of
  • anti-racism and grounding those principles in all daily tasks
  • Incorporate the YWCA's commitment to social justice by understanding how racism, sexism,
  • classism and other oppressions intersect and are embedded in institutions. Seek opportunities
  • for continued learning about racial, gender and class equity.
  • Proactively maintain yearly domestic violence and other training requirements as required.
  • Be present for and appropriately participate in staff meetings as required.
  • Establish and maintain a record of impeccable dependability with regards to punctuality, following call-out
  • procedures, and adhering to the policies, practices, and guidelines set by the organization and SafeChoice.
  • Maintain appropriate personal/professional boundaries with participants and co-workers to maintain clear,
  • open, and unbiased lines of communication.
  • Assist with trainings for staff, volunteers and community partners

Direct Services and Program

  • Address program participant's housing barrier needs and assist participants in obtaining background
  • checks, credit reports, and other vital records.
  • Advocate for survivors as needed in the housing process.
  • Transport participants and/or their belongings as needed and appropriate.
  • Participate in ongoing home visits and collaborate with other SafeChoice staff to provide dv advocacy
  • services.
  • Connect families with resources, community, and youth and family-centered supports in order to help them
  • stabilize and ultimately maintain their housing long-term.
  • Provide SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR) services, Rent Well tenant education and other
  • supportive services as required.
  • Keep current with best practices, including Housing First model, and updates to relevant housing laws.
  • Participate in Clark County Coordinated Entry system, including assessments and referrals.
  • Effectively and respectively work with people from diverse backgrounds and provide advocacy support in
  • accordance with the individual's cultural practices and beliefs.
  • Provide hot-line coverage support

Budget and Administration

  • Manage program budget and ensure timely payments for rent and utility assistance.
  • Assess and determine best use of flexible funding for referred participants to access and maintain stable
  • housing and financial self-sufficiency.
  • Maintain records and data collection for federal, state, and other appropriate funding sources. Make routine
  • reports as assigned.
  • Enter data for housing and shelter program into databases as required

Community Partnership Building

  • Represent SafeChoice housing program at appropriate housing/homeless and survivor focused
  • meetings in the community.
  • Build and maintain relationships with property management, landlords, and other community resources.
  • Collaborate and keep up to-date-information on NW Furniture Bank.
  • Engage in community education and policy advocacy regarding domestic violence and homelessness.

There is a strong social justice component to all positions within YWCA Clark County, requiring critical

thinking through the lens of racism and intersections with poverty. Knowing the core principles of anti-racism

and grounding those principles in everyday work are required job skills and core values

Related Education

  • A.A. /A.S. degree in a related field or position equivalent experience in addition to the experience requirements listed below.

Related Experience

  • Minimum one year providing domestic violence or sexual assault advocacy.
  • Minimum one year working specifically with persons experiencing homelessness.
  • Familiarity with homeless coordinated entry system and knowledge of local resources.
  • Minimum one year experience providing case management services, including financial assistance.
  • Current driver's license and/or ability to commute throughout Clark County to fulfill job responsibilities.

Required Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of creating personal budgets, financial management, job and professional skills
  • development.
  • Knowledge of local housing programs, fair housing laws, and landlord / tenant rights.
  • Knowledge of housing first service approach and trauma informed care.
