Position Title: Water Resources Engineer/Modeler

Salary Range:

$85,000 - $115,000 annually, based on experience, licensure, and technical expertise.

Position Summary:

The Water Resources Engineer/Modeler will contribute to water resources planning and design projects, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and client expectations. This role requires expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling, project management, and collaboration with clients and internal teams. The ideal candidate will lead the development of innovative solutions for watershed management and infrastructure planning while delivering high-quality designs and reports.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform water resources planning and design projects, ensuring timely delivery and budget compliance.
  • Develop and review hydrologic and hydraulic models at both local and watershed scales using tools such as EPA SWMM, XP-SWMM, ICPR4 (StormWise), HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS.
  • Collaborate with clients during progress meetings and throughout the project lifecycle to align project goals with client needs.
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of final design reports, plans, and technical documentation for submission and approval.
  • Conduct engineering investigations and planning work, coordinating efforts with internal and external teams.
  • Prepare cost and man-hour estimates, manage job budgets, and establish project schedules.

Education and Licensure (Minimum Requirements)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred but not required.

Experience (Minimum Requirements)

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in water resources-related work.
  • Proficiency in H&H modeling tools such as EPA SWMM, XP-SWMM, ICPR4 (StormWise), HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS.
  • Experience with ESRI GIS software (ArcPro preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with ArcHydro Tools and familiarity with the Geographic Watershed Information System (GWIS) geodatabase schema.
  • Knowledge of the SWFWMD Watershed Management Program scope of work.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, including technical writing and reporting.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in relevant software applications.
