We are seeking a Biologist to support the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH), world renowned National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in Bethesda, MD. Responsibilities

  • Conduct or participate in projects within a specific area or field. Projects are typically small or part or larger projects.
  • Make observations, analyze data, and interpret results.
  • Present findings at internal meetings.
  • Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts.
  • Apply and interpret basic scientific or engineering principles, theories, concepts, and protocols in a limited area or field.
  • Develop solutions to problems within job scope where precedents exist.
  • Work in collaboration with Federal Task Leader to meet project goals and participate in conception of the approach.

Qualifications

  • This position requires a BS or MS with no post degree experience required.
  • 2-3 years of experience is required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience analyzing data and interpreting results.

  • Ability to lift or carry less than 25 pounds, push or pull less than 25 pounds, reach above shoulder level, and use both hands.

  • Must have depth perception and correctable near vision and be able to distinguish basic colors. Able to perform repetitive activities.
  • Required to work on ladders or scaffolding.
  • Ability to work alone or closely with others.
  • Required to work with solvents. Required to work with hands in water.
  • Will be required to be in contact with lasers in instruments, corrosive substances, inorganic dusts and powders, heavy metals, plastics, and sensitizing agents.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, face shields/goggles, safety glasses, safety shoes, and disposable surgical masks.
