Congregation Emanu-El is seeking a results-oriented Senior Director of Membership to lead our membership efforts, with a particular focus on long-term planning and revenue generation. This position will work closely with the Senior Director of Philanthropy, Membership Committee, and Senior leadership team to create a sustainable, forward-thinking membership strategy that not only focuses on growing and retaining members but also outlines a comprehensive revenue plan for the next 10 years.

The Senior Director will lead membership engagement, implement strategies to attract new members, and create opportunities for deepened connections within the community. They will be a critical leader in shaping the future of our congregation and ensuring it remains a thriving, inclusive place for all members.

Responsibilities

· Strategic Membership Growth & Engagement:

Lead the creation of a membership development strategy to attract new members, deepen relationships with current members, and engage individuals in meaningful ways. Ensure the membership plan aligns with the overall strategic direction of the congregation.

· Data & Metrics-Driven Decisions:

Use data and analytics to assess membership trends, track engagement, and make data-driven decisions. Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of membership initiatives and report on progress to the Board and leadership.

· Member Retention:

Create and implement strategies for member retention, ensuring that members remain engaged, connected, and committed to the community long-term. Focus on providing personalized outreach and support to maintain a strong, involved membership.

· Collaborative Leadership:

Work closely with the Executive Director, Clergy, and Senior Director of Philanthropy to ensure that membership growth aligns with the broader vision of the congregation. Manage the Board-Nominating Committee and Membership Committees. Create and manage leadership-development programs for lay-leaders.

· Engagement Programs & Events:

Oversee and organize membership events, orientation programs, and the High Holy Days, and other activities that promote connection and engagement within the congregation. Develop strategies to engage various demographics, new members, including young adults, families, and empty nesters. A visible and engaged leader at events and Shabbat services are imperative.

· Financial Oversight:

Partner with Senior Management and Membership Committee to set membership-related financial goals, establish revenue expectations, and monitor budgetary targets. Work to integrate membership engagement strategies with the overall financial health of the congregation.

· Membership Communication:

Develop and oversee all membership communication strategies, including email campaigns, newsletters, and social media. Ensure that messaging aligns with the congregation’s mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications

· Experience:

Minimum of 7-10 years of leadership experience in membership development, nonprofit management, or related fields.

· Strategic Vision:

Demonstrated ability to develop and execute long-term strategies, including revenue planning and growth. Ability to create a sustainable membership vision that supports both spiritual and financial goals.

· Leadership Skills:

Strong leadership and management skills. Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with clergy, staff, lay leadership, and volunteers.

Compensation : $130,000/yr -$145,000/year, depending on experience and qualifications.
